I'm having dinner tonight with Grandmother Willow.
Have you seen Disney's Pocahontas? You know the willow tree that she talks to? Well, it's not that tree. But this person reminds of that tree and of some wise, grandmotherly Native spirit, so I think of her as Grandmother Willow. She is one of the few Healing Touch people in the C-ville area. I find it odd that they're aren't more, but there you have it. We met and had lunch several weeks ago in my quest to find a mentor to move forward with my Healing Touch certification. My original intent was to complete those requirements and take Level Five in January, but that has now changed.
I won't be ready by January, on many levels. I don't have a mentor for one, and I'm far behind on the certification requirements. One usually has a year to accomplish these tasks, and the dissertation, graduation, job hunt, and move kinda got in the way. At first I was reluctant to postpone, but I now realize, or rather remember, that it will all fall into place when the time is right. So I've breathing room now, which is always nice.
Anyway, back to Grandmother Willow. She's spritely for 76. She's also feisty, determined, kind, and spiritual. She has invited me to her home and is preparing dinner for us. I've been looking forward to it since we made the arrangements, especially with it coming on the heels of this morning's therapy session and before this weekend. I'm truly taking the weekend for myself, giving myself broad latitude if I don't get in everything that I would like to accomplish. More anon.
So, this afternoon, whilst I read about energy medicine and healing, the refrain of Grandmother Willow's song from Pocahontas is drifting through my mind.
"Listen with your heart, you will understand."
